Notice: Due to the transmutation in kiln, the pattern on each teaware will be slightly different. Therefore, every Jian zhan Tenmoku is unique and special, but it will be remained generally the same.
This is the unique charm of the Jianzhan cup in our Chinese culture
Each Jianzhan teacup is a unique existence. The kiln transformation process is mysterious and unpredictable. The various patterns created by the glaze color seem to be the uncanny workmanship of nature. The rabbit-hair pattern is as delicate and smooth as rabbit hair, shining with a silvery light in the sun, symbolizing auspiciousness and agility. The oil-drop pattern is like numerous stars in the night sky, condensing the mysterious power between heaven and earth, and implying good luck and perfection. These unique patterns are not only the ultimate aesthetic presentation but also embody the ancients' awe and understanding of nature, the universe and all things in the world.
Jianzhan production
Jianzhan production is an artistic symphony of earth and fire. Firstly, select clay with high iron content in Jianyang, Fujian, and obtain clay paste through weathering, crushing, and washing. The craftsman shapes the pottery wheel by pulling it into shape, endowing the clay ball with the prototype of the lamp. After drying in the shade, the clay is refined and the details are carved. The unique glaze is formulated according to the formula and evenly applied to the body. The thickness and method affect the effect.
Finally, it enters the kiln and is fired at a high temperature of over 1300 ℃. The body and glaze minerals react under complex atmosphere, controlled by temperature and duration, forming magical glaze color textures such as obsidian and partridge spots. This process is full of challenges and uncertainties, but it has achieved the precious artistic value and millennium inheritance of Jianzhan.
